Research universities and their research infrastructures qualified within the scope of Law No. 6550 will work strategically with other universities, public R&D units, especially private sector R&D centers within the scope of Law No. 5746, in order to allow the effective transfer of technologies developed in critical technology fields to the private sector. A consultation meeting was held regarding the 1004 Center of Excellence Support Program, which will enable units to specialize by building them. The said meeting was attended by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Rectors/Vice-Rectors of 10 Principal and 5 Candidate Research Universities determined by YÖK and YÖK Supervisory Board Member Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın and Emre İlyas, Head of Department of the Ministry of Development attended.


 

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. In his opening speech of the meeting, Hasan Mandal emphasized "qualified information and qualified people" and stated that he saw meeting the needs in these matters as the key concepts that will carry our country to the future. He stated that towards 2023, TÜBİTAK will focus on these two main axes, contributing to the priority sectors determined by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, and that the "New TÜBİTAK" will also develop institutionally by transitioning to "specialized program management" in this context. He also emphasized that the chain of basic research, technology development and commercialization should be considered as a whole, and stated that only when we manage the process in an integrated manner will we transform from an input-based approach to an output-based approach. He added that the 1004 Center of Excellence Support Program, which will be discussed with the participants at this meeting, was designed as one of the support programs that will serve this purpose.
